The mother of Jason Patric's son has been granted a one-year restraining order against the actor.

The Speed 2: Cruise Control star has been locked in a battle with his ex-girlfriend Danielle Schreiber over access to their three-year-old son Gus, after donating his sperm so she could realise her dream of becoming a mum in 2009.

In 2012, Patric had to file for joint custody after the couple split, because U.S. law recognises him as a sperm donor with no paternity rights.

The actor lost his bid earlier this year (13), and he has since filed an appeal and is awaiting a decision.

Meanwhile, Schreiber attained a restraining order on Thursday (28Nov13) against Patric, prohibiting any contact from him.

He tells U.S. talk show The View, "For 10 months I've been emailing her lawyers letters, texts, anything to see my son.

"I've been sending her articles about what happens when a father is absent from a child's life... She found that harassing and lecturing to her. She goes to a judge and those are unwanted communications, so I am not now allowed to communicate with the mother of my child."

Patric isn't alone in his paternity battle - Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Mel Gibson recently joined the star at the inaugural Stand Up For Gus fundraiser in Los Angeles and donated money to his cause.
