Jerry Hall says her modelling career has been a ''dream''.

The 57-year-old former model - who was married to Rolling Stones legend Sir Mick Jagger for 23 years - feels grateful to have worked with some of the biggest designers in the world when she looks back upon her illustrious career.

She told France's Madame Figaro: ''I was very lucky and was able to work from a young age with the likes of Yves Saint Laurent and Thierry Mugler, lots of genius designers. I'm very proud of my long career, and have had the chance to work with a lot of talented people, it was a dream.''

Jerry admits she was initially worried about whether modelling was right for her when renowned photographer Helmut Newton cast her in a super sexy shoot.

The blonde laughed: ''My first photoshoot was with Helmut Newton for Photo magazine. We were in Pigalle, Paris, and we chose clothing that was very sexy. At one point I burst into tears and said, 'I want to be a model, this is porn!' And he replied, 'No, this is art.' ''

Jerry's 22-year-old daughter Georgia May Jagger is carving out her own career in fashion and the veteran model worries the industry has become far tougher these days.

She reflected: ''It has changed a lot because when I was a model there weren't things like the internet. We had a lot of time backstage to chat and joke around. We had much longer, more relaxed lunches. Every model had a distinct personality they showed off.''
