Jessica Pare - Jessica Paré compares auditions to dates
Jessica Paré has compared auditioning for acting roles to going on a date because of the hard work you have to put in.
Jessica Paré thinks auditioning for acting roles is like going on a date.
The 'Mad Men' star was known only for her lead in 'Stardom' in 2010 and a five minute appearance in 'Hot Tub Time Machine' before she landed the role of Megan Draper in the series, and she claims that the hard work that goes into auditioning for parts is like dating.
She said: ''You give your best years to your career. You spend all your time working on auditions, and it's like getting ready for a date, which sucks. You go to an audition where you're barely acknowledged and it's a difficult grind to do year after year.''
The 33-year-old actress also admitted that many of her meetings with film-makers frustrated her because they were unwillingly to write strong, female characters but complained when there was something missing from roles.
She explained to Stylist magazine: ''I've had lots of meetings with directors who tell me they want the character - a girlfriend - to feel like a real person. And you always want to say, 'Well that's great, why don't you just write a real person? As you would, you know, a man!''
