The nephew of legendary fashion icon Hubert De Givenchy has been ordered to serve five days of community service in New York after pleading guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct.
Jewellery designer James de Givenchy was arrested in November (13) after punching a cop who was attempting to have his Mercedes-Benz car towed.
He was initially slapped with counts of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated, and both he and his wife Gina were charged with obstruction of governmental administration.
However, the 50 year old managed to strike a jail-free plea deal with prosecutors and was handed his sentence on Thursday (27Mar14) during a hearing at Manhattan Criminal Court, reports the New York Daily News.
Gina de Givenchy, 46, is due in court next month (Apr14).
James' uncle founded the House of Givenchy in 1952.
