Judd Apatow will direct new comedy 'Train Wreck'.

The 'Knocked Up' director will helm the new rib-tickling movie for Universal Pictures, which will star American comedienne Amy Schumer.

Apatow previously joined the project as a producer but will now direct as well.

Schumer - who appears on Comedy Central TV show 'Inside Amy Schumer' - will pen the script as well as star, but the plot details are being kept completely under wraps, Variety reports.

'Train Wreck' will be backed by Universal and Apatow's Apatow Productions.

The director-and-producer has been behind some of the biggest comedy hits in recent years since shooting to fame helming 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' in 2005. The movie starred Steve Carrell as the titular 40-year-old virgin.

His latest directing credit is 'This Is 40', which starred his wife Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd reprising their roles from 'Knocked Up'.

Apatow is also credited as a producer on 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' and its upcoming sequel, 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues', as well as 'Pineapple Express', 'Wanderlust', 'Bridesmaids', 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall', 'Get Him to the Greek', and hit TV show 'Girls'.
