Pop superstar Justin Bieber gave fans a shock on Christmas Eve (24Dec13) by taking to Twitter.com to declare his plans for retirement once again.

The Baby hitmaker first sent fans into a spin last week (ends20Dec13) after telling a Los Angeles Dj he was ready to hang up his microphone for good at the age of 19.

His manager, Scooter Braun, subsequently played down rumours the teen was done with pop, insisting he was simply planning to take some time out in 2014, but Bieber reiterated his intentions to quit the music industry once more on Tuesday (24Dec13), telling his more than 47 million Twitter followers, "My beloved beliebers (fans) I'm officially retiring."

The message caused frenzied fans to take to the Internet to express their heartbreak, but Bieber then appeared to dismiss his own claim with a series of follow-up posts.

He went on to add, "The media talks a lot about me. They make a up a lot of lies and want me to fail but I'm never leaving you, being a belieber (fan) is a lifestyle.

"Be kind loving to each other, forgive each other as god forgave us through Christ Merry Christmas Im (sic) Forever."

Bieber's confusing posts appeared online hours before the release of his new concert documentary, Justin Bieber's Believe, hit cinemas in North America, and it seems he hasn't given up singing at all - he shared a number of videos on Instagram.com on Christmas Day (25Dec13) featuring snippets of him singing acoustic versions of his tracks U Smile, Confident and Swap It Out.
