Justin Bieber will stand trial for driving under the influence (Dui) in May (14), two months after he was initially due to face the charges.

The pop superstar was arrested with R&B artist Khalil Amir Sharieff in January (14) and busted on suspicion of Dui, resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired licence following allegations of drag racing in Miami, Florida.

The 3 March (14) start date for his trial had to be postponed last month (Feb14) to allow the case judge to review hours of Cctv footage of Bieber in custody to determine if its release would violate his privacy.

Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield ruled in the defendant's favour last week (04Mar14) and ordered prosecutors to black out images of the Baby singer's genitals in the footage, which featured the 20 year old struggling to complete a sobriety test, arguing with cops and submitting to a urine test, before allowing them to go public.

The case returned to court on Tuesday (11Mar14), when both prosecutor Daniel Diaz-Balart and Bieber's lawyer Roy Black insisted that no plea deal had been offered to the star, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

The singer, who extended his weekend (08-09Mar14) stay in Austin, Texas and did not attend the Miami hearing, faces a day in court on 5 May (14). He has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Meanwhile, Sharieff will face a separate trial for a Dui charge on 7 April (14). He has also denied the allegations.

The Dui charge isn't Bieber's only ongoing legal woe - he is also facing an allegation of summary assault in Toronto, Canada, where he stands accused of hitting a limo driver during a night out in December (13).

A brief routine hearing into that case was held in Toronto on Monday (10Mar14), when Bieber's attorney, Brian Greenspan, appeared on his client's behalf, determined to fight the claims.

After the court date, Greenspan told reporters, "What is clear is that we have independent witnesses who indicate he was not engaged in any wrongdoing."
