Justin Bieber sparked chaos at a mall in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday (06Jul13) after leading fans to believe he was making a surprise appearance at the shopping centre in a series of posts on Twitter.com.
The pop superstar, who was in the city ahead of his concert at the CenturyLink Center that night, sent his online followers into a frenzy after appearing to suggest that he was making a return to the local Westroads Mall, where he had previously shot a viral video which ended up being included in his Never Say Never concert movie.
On Saturday afternoon, he tweeted: "been a great little break but now gotta get back to tour. where are we going??? Omaha Mall!!!"
Bieber then shared a link to the Never Say Never clip, in which he is featured leading the crowds in a chant of "Omaha Mall" before breaking into an impromptu performance.
His messages prompted hordes of devotees to flock to the venue in anticipation of their pop idol's arrival - but the Baby hitmaker failed to show.
Police were called to the scene to respond to reports of minor crowd disturbances but no arrests were made and the large group soon dispersed.
