Justin Bieber is preparing for a meeting with Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai after holding a video chat with the 17 year old.

Yousafzai hit headlines in 2012 when she was shot in the head on board a school bus by a gunman linked to Taliban extremists after writing a series of blogs about restrictions on girls' education where she lived.

The youngster survived the attack and went on to set up the Malala Fund to campaign for female education around the world, and on Wednesday (06Aug14), the Baby hitmaker shared a screenshot of a video call with Yousafzai.

Bieber posted the snap on Instagram.com and told fans he is searching for ways to help her organisation.

He writes in the caption, "Just got to FaceTime (video chat) with Malala Yousafzai. She has such an incredible story. I can't wait to meet her in person and talk about how I can support her and the @malalafund. #love"
