Star Trek - Kate Mulgrew 'Misinformed' About Role In Controversial Documentary

Star Trek: Voyager star Kate Mulgrew has insisted she was "misinformed" about her role as a narrator in a documentary which promotes a debunked theory that the sun revolves around the Earth.

The veteran actress lent her voice to the film titled The Principle, focusing on Geocentrism, the theory that Earth is the centre of the universe. In the trailer for the movie, Mulgrew says in a voice over, "Everything we think we know about our universe is wrong."

The clip goes on to feature various physicists showing support for the theory, however, one of the scientific scholars featured, Lawrence Krauss, has come forward in a article titled, 'I Have No Idea How I Ended Up In That Stupid Geocentrism Documentary'.

Krauss alleges the film's producers "mined" public domain clips of him for the film, and Mulgrew now insists she was misinformed about the project as well.

The actress writes in a post on, "I understand there has been some controversy about my participation in a documentary called The Principle. Let me assure everyone that I completely agree with the eminent physicist Lawrence Krauss, who was himself misrepresented in the film, and who has written a succinct rebuttal in Slate.

"I am not a geocentrist, nor am I in any way a proponent of geocentrism. More importantly, I do not subscribe to anything (executive producer) Robert Sungenis has written regarding science and history and, had I known of his involvement, would most certainly have avoided this documentary.

"I was a voice for hire, and a misinformed one, at that. I apologise for any confusion that my voice on this trailer may have caused."
