Katy Perry has settled a lawsuit with British hair care company ghd.
The 'Wide Awake' singer, whose on/off relationship with John Mayer is reportedly heating up again, claimed the company behind the brand, Jemella Group, owed her $2 million after an oral agreement went wrong.
The 28-year-old star said ghd verbally agreed to extend her contract as the brand's celebrity spokesperson but the company disputed the agreement ever took place and insisted it wanted to cut ties with Katy as soon as its original deal expired because its research suggested she is no longer as popular in Europe as she once was.
ghd filed the first legal documents in April in an attempt to block the brunette beauty from suing them but both parties decided to drop the case completely last month, and gave up the right to re-file a lawsuit in the future, according to gossip website TMZ.com.
It is not known if Katy managed to secure any of the $2 million she was seeking in the settlement.
According to the documents, the 'Firework' hitmaker had a $4.5 million written contract to promote ghd products, which stands for Good Hair Day, for two years from 2011 until 2013.
Her agent claimed the oral agreement was in place to extend her contract after that time.
A spokesperson for Katy previously said: ''Jemella's attempt to embarrass Ms. Perry by including defamatory statements about her in a public filing is shameful.''
She added: ''They're backing out of the deal because of an ownership change, and just throwing shade to hide their bad faith.''
