Actress Kerry Washington has loaned her voice to an audiobook about hip-hop's impact on American culture.
The Scandal star will narrate The Tanning of America: How Hip-Hop Created a Culture that Rewrote the Rules of the New Economy.
Part of the proceeds of the audiobook will go to the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, a charity Washington works as an advocate for.
She says, "I am honoured to play a small role in bringing this important book to the world. By examining hip-hop through the lenses of ethnomusicology, marketing analysis, sociology... The Tanning of America helps us to understand how the American dream has and continues to be redefined by the transformative forces of inclusivity and aspirational drive embodied in the journey of hip-hop and pop culture."
