Kiefer Sutherland wants to buy a London pub.

The 47-year-old actor has been shooting '24: Live Another Day' in the city and would love to set up a business in the UK because he thinks the bars are the ''best in the world''.

He said: ''British pubs are the best in the world. They are pretty much the only ones that have any authenticity about them.

''Every country in the world tries to recreate or replicate a British or Irish pub but they never get it quite right.

''I would love to buy a pub in London, that would be so cool.''

And despite his own fame, Kiefer insists he doesn't want to open a celebrity hangout, just an ordinary pub.

He added to The Sun newspaper: ''I wouldn't be looking for it to be a super-trendy place, just a real British pub where real locals come for a drink.''

The multi-millionaire actor was recently spotted dining at a Toby Carvery, where meals cost just £6.50, in Aldenham, Hertfordshire, East England.

Waitress Laura Knight said: ''He was friendly and enjoyed his meal. He had a carvery and a drink and left very happy.''
