Kylie Minogue's guitarist has told a coroner's court how he narrowly dodged death when falling concrete landed on his taxi earlier this year (14).
Luke Fitton, who has been the Australian pop star's tour guitarist since 2010, told St. Pancras Coroner's Court in London this week (beg01Sep14) that he feared for his life when the taxi he was sat in with his girlfriend was struck by falling masonry.
The concrete crushed the vehicle, killing its driver, and a large block of debris landed on Fitton's chest.
He told the court, "We’d stopped at traffic lights and it was particularly quiet. Quite instantly, I felt I had a huge piece of concrete on me... I didn't understand what was going on. I was conscious, I was screaming because the pain was so blinding."
Fitton was cut free from the wreckage and spent months walking with crutches following the incident in the capital on Valentine's Day (14Feb14). His girlfriend was not seriously injured but the driver, Julie Sillitoe, was killed almost instantly.
The inquest into Sillitoe's death continues.
