Downton Abbey star Laura Carmichael is celebrating after the Haiti charity she supports was awarded a $425,000 (£250,000) grant from the U.K. Government.
The actress, who plays Lady Edith Crawley in the hit Tv drama, is a patron of Haiti Hospital Appeal (Hha), which helps improve the health of women and young children in the impoverished Caribbean country that was devastated by an earthquake in 2010.
Carmichael is overjoyed at the award, telling Britain's Sunday Mirror, "As Hha's patron, I am proud of the incredible impact that the project will have. I had the incredible privilege of witnessing first-hand the dedicated work of local health workers who provide critical care to some of the world's most vulnerable women and children."
