British pop star Leona Lewis has taken aim at Tv talent show The X Factor for dominating the U.K. singles chart every Christmas.

The Bleeding Love hitmaker won the singing contest in 2006 but has become concerned at its tradition of launching each series winner's career with a release during the festive season.

The track almost always takes the coveted number one spot on Christmas week, but Lewis wants a return to the days when seasonal songs dominated the festive chart.

She tells Britain's Daily Star newspaper, "I know that whoever wins The X Factor will be Christmas No. 1, because the show is so huge. But now I'm thinking: 'No, why does it have to be The X Factor? Stop it and give the traditional Christmas songs a chance'."
