Louis Vuitton has recruited Karl Lagerfeld.
The luxury brand's executive vice president Delphine Arnault has called in Chanel's artistic director to help design a special edition of the signature LV logo for a collection of bags to celebrate their 160th anniversary.
Along with Karl, 80, designers Marc Newson, Christian Louboutin and Rei Kawakubo, photographer Cindy Sherman, and architect Frank Gehry have also been enlisted to collaborate on the collection - entitled 'The Icon and the Iconoclasts' - which will only be available for a few months.
Delphine explained to WWD: ''We have assembled an amazing group of talents - geniuses, I would say. Each one is among the best in his or her field. The monogram is at the centre of our house, so we celebrate it every day. But we thought this project was really special because the personalities we chose are fascinating and diverse.''
''This is a very interesting territory - to have collaborations with exceptional, creative minds. It's a really fun project. It's done with a lot of humour.''
The bags will be available from mid-October, with prices ranging from $2,000 to $4,000.
