Lupita Nyong'o walked away from a role in a Broadway show to take a part in the new Star Wars movie, according to a U.S. report.

The 12 Years A Slave star was reportedly offered the chance to make her debut on the Great White Way opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in a production of Nick Payne's play Constellations, but turned it down.

Editors of the New York Post's Page Six gossip column report Nyong'o walked away from the role so she could appear in upcoming blockbuster Star Wars: Episode Vii.

British actress Ruth Wilson has signed up to star with Gyllenhaal in Constellations.

Representatives from the show declined to comment.
