Madonna has attracted criticism after calling the leak of her upcoming album ''artistic rape.''

The 56-year-old singer posted a furious rant on Instagram on Wednesday (17.12.14) shortly after an unfinished edition of her yet-to-be-announced 2015 album appeared online, but was slammed by some fans on Twitter for comparing the incident to a ''form of terrorism.''

One fan tweeted: ''Madonna has called the theft of her demos a form of 'rape' and 'terrorism.' Her hysteria and ignorance know no bounds.''

According to MailOnline, another user posted: ''Ooook I have a prblm w/ @Madonna claiming the leaks are a form of 'TERRORISM' Really? There are ppl dying. Get a clue (sic).''

The comments came hours after the 'Hung Up' hitmaker posted and deleted the following message on Instagram: ''This is artistic rape!! These are early leaked demo's half of which wont even make it on my album the other half have changed and evolved. This is a form of terrorism. Wtf!!!! Why do people want to destroy artistic process??? Why steal? Why not give me the opportunity to finish and give you my very best? (sic)''

She also urged her fans not to download the unauthorised music, writing: ''Thank you for not listening! Thank you for your loyalty!''
