Malcolm Johnson will not be returning to AC/DC because of illness.
Malcolm Young will not return to AC/DC.
The rockers announced earlier this year the rhythm guitarist and founder member would take a break from the band due to illness, but have now confirmed he is leaving the 'Back in Black' group for good.
A statement said: ''Earlier this year AC/DC released a statement explaining that due to illness, Malcolm would be taking a break from the band. Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm's condition, he will not be returning to the band.''
The news came amid an announcement about the group's new album, 'Rock Or Bust', which will be released on December 1.
The 11-track LP - the group's first in six years - was recorded earlier this year and features Malcolm and guitarist Angus Young's nephew Stevie Young on rhythm guitar.
Stevie will also take Malcolm's place on tour.
Frontman Brian Johnson previously admitted he had considered calling the album 'Man Down' in reference to Malcolm's illness.
However, he said: ''But it's a bit negative and it was probably just straight from the heart. I like that.''
