Actress/singer Mary Healy has died, aged 96.

She passed away on Tuesday (03Feb15) in Calabasas, California and her death has been attributed to natural causes.

Healy, who was crowned Miss New Orleans in 1935, was discovered by a movie scout while singing at a hotel in Louisiana and began her Hollywood career with films such as Second Fiddle and Star Dust.

Her career took off following her marriage to actor/comedian Peter Lind Hayes in 1940, and she joined his cabaret act and worked almost exclusively with him until his death in 1998.

They paired up for variety Tv series The Peter Lind Hayes Show and Star in the Family, and 1960s sitcom Peter Loves Mary. The married couple also teamed up for fantasy film The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T, Broadway farce Who Was That Lady I Saw You With?, and regular appearances on game shows. They also starred in a car commercial, presented a daily radio show from their home in New York and released a joint memoir.

In later life, the couple lived in Las Vegas and performed regular concerts at the Sands Hotel and Casino.

They adopted two children, including actress Cathy Lind Hayes, who has enjoyed roles in Days of Our Lives and Grey's Anatomy.
