Megan Washington - Megan Washington Wins Settlement With Airline
Australian singer Megan Washington has won a "significant sum" in a settlement with bosses at an airline for using one of her songs without permission.
The I Believe You Liar hitmaker filed a lawsuit against executives of Australian carrier Qantas last year (13) for allegedly misusing footage of her singing patriotic song I Still Call Australia Home, which she performed at the airline's 90th anniversary party in 2010.
Washington claimed it was used by airline bosses without her permission, breaching their agreement.
The two parties reached a settlement at the Federal Circuit Court last week (ends13Jul14) for an undisclosed amount. Reports suggest Washington received a "significant sum".
A spokeswoman for Qantas says bosses "never accepted" the singer's argument but adds, "Qantas settled to put an end to the dispute, where the legal costs far outweighed the value of the claim."
