Mel Gibson - Mel Gibson Applies To Strike Battery Case From Records
Actor Mel Gibson is asking a judge to erase his conviction for slapping his ex-partner Oksana Grigorieva from his record.
The Lethal Weapon star pleaded no contest to a charge of battery in 2011 after admitting he struck his former lover once with an open hand "to bring her back to reality" during a bust-up.
He was sentenced to 16 hours of community service, a course of counselling, and three years probation.
His probation period ended in March (14), and now Gibson has lodged an application to have the conviction removed from his record, according to Tmz.com.
The case is due to be heard at a court in Los Angeles later this month (May14).
