Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock have been nominated for the Best Actress award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The Hollywood stars will go head-to-head for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor gong after being nominated for their respective roles in 'August: Osage County' and 'Gravity'.

Streep and Bullock will be joined by fellow leading ladies Cate Blanchett for 'Blue Jasmine' Judi Dench for 'Philomena' and Emma Thompson for her performance in 'Saving Mr Banks'.

Meanwhile, Tom Hanks ('Captain Phillips'), Chiwetel Ojiofor ('12 Years a Slave'), Bruce Dern ('Nebraska'), Matthew Mcconaughey ('Dallas Buyers Club') and Forest Whitaker ('The Butler') will battle it out for the best male award in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor category.

Leading the nominations for the 2014 awards is '12 Years A Slave', which received four nods, followed by 'August: Osage County', Lee Daniels' 'The Butler' and 'Dallas Buyers Club'.

Daniel Bruhl ('Rush'), Barkhad Abdi ('Captain Phillips'), Jared Leto ('Dallas Buyers Club') and James Gandolfini ('Enough Said') will compete against Michael Fassbender ('12 Years a Slave') for the Best Male Supporting Role award.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence received a nod for her performance in 'American Hustle' and will battle it out against Julia Roberts ('August: Osage County'), Oprah Winfrey ('The Butler'), Lupita Nyong'o ('12 Years A Slave') and June Squibb ('Nebraska') for the Supporting Female Role.

The winners will be announced at the SAG awards ceremony on January 18, 2014.
