Miranda Kerr never thought her career would last.

The brunette beauty started out aged 14 when a pal secretly entered her in a modelling competition and has since become the second highest-earning supermodel in the world after Gisele Bündchen, but she still feels ''lucky'' to have crossed over to more high profile work.

Speaking in the May issue of Britain's GQ magazine, Miranda said: ''It's funny, some people have recently said, 'Oh your career is really starting to take off', which is weird. I think they forget I've been doing this since I was 14.

''Maybe it just seems that way to the fashion crowd as for a long time I was doing more commercial jobs. I just feel lucky. I never thought it would even last this long.''

Miranda - who makes a reported $8 million annually according to Forbes magazine - was the first Australian model to be named a Victoria's Secret 'Angel', one of the most coveted and highly paid commercial modelling jobs, and she insists she has no regrets about ending her contract with the underwear brand last year.

She explained: ''I treasured my time with [Victoria's Secret] I wanted a new challenge, a new scene.''

The busy star has her own skincare range, Kora Organics, and is also the face of Swarovski jewellery and H&M's spring/summer 2014 campaign, as well being a full-time mother to her three-year-old son Flynn with her estranged husband Orlando Bloom.
