Rocker Morrissey has vowed to publish his autobiography "within weeks" following reports he blocked the book's release just days before it was due to hit stores.

The former The Smiths star was expected to unveil his memoirs on Monday (16Sep13), but a statement published on his fan site this week (ends15Sep13) suggested he had blocked its publication due to a dispute over content.

However, a new statement has since been released to insist Morrissey remains onboard with publishing house Penguin Books and hopes to have the book ready for release soon.

The message, posted on True-to-you.net, reads, "Clarification... The publication of Morrissey's Autobiography remains with Penguin Books. This is a deal for the Uk and Europe, but Morrissey has no contract with a publisher for the U.S. or any other territory. As of 13 September, Morrissey and Penguin (Uk) remain determined to publish within the next few weeks."
