Open auditions are being held for 'Star Wars: Episode VII'.

Casting sessions for two lead roles will reportedly be staged later this week at locations in the UK and Ireland, including London, Bristol, Dublin and Glasgow.

A casting notice posted on Twitter states producers are looking to fill the roles of a ''street smart and beautiful'' orphaned girl in her late teens and a ''handsome, smart and athletic'' man in his late teens or early 20s.

The open audition for the ''major Hollywood Movie'' was first revealed on the Twitter account @UKopencall, announcing a ''nationwide search for lead roles for a Disney movie''.

The characters' names - currently listed as Rachel and Thomas - are likely to be fake in order to avoid confirmation they are for the 'Star Wars' sequel, according to the BBC.

While it is unusual for a big blockbuster to hold open auditions for lead roles, the 'Star Wars' films are famed for handing little or unknown actors its main parts, including Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford.

Director J.J. Abrams will not be attending the auditions, but those auditioning will meet members of the casting team.

Auditions begin in Bristol on Saturday (09.11.13), before heading to Glasgow, London, Manchester and Dublin.

Disney's 'Star Wars: Episode VII' will open in summer 2015, despite Lucasfilm executives allegedly stating recently that a 2016 release should be targeted.
