Pamela Anderson & Paul Mccartney Still Awaiting Saved Elephant's Freedom
The former Baywatch star and the rocker jumped into action when officials at animal rights group Peta exposed the conditions the creature, named Sunder, was being kept in.
In their expose, they claimed the elephant had been kept chained in the dark for seven years at the Jyotiba Temple in Maharashtra.
Both stars sent letters to Indian officials urging them to step in and free Sunder, and late last month (Apr14) they received the news that the elephant was to be moved to a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre near Bangalore after an intervention by the country's Forestry Minister Dr. Patangrao Shripatrao Kadam.
But the celebrations have been cut short because the process of moving Sunder is proving to be slow.
When a fan asked Anderson for an update on Sunder on Facebook.com on Wednesday (21May14), the actress responded, "Poor beautiful Sunder - it's progressing - but not fast enough. A lot of politics. Peta has lawyers - undercover footage - it's a desperate situation. Heart Breaking (sic)."
Meanwhile, Peta bosses have revealed an examination of Sunder uncovered a massive wound on his left hind limb as a result of his chained existence.
Sunder has to be moved to the sanctuary before the upcoming monsoon season.
