Paulina Rubio - Paulina Rubio Sues Tv Bosses
Latino singing star Paulina Rubio is suing executives at Tv giant Telemundo over a talent show deal gone wrong.
Rubio, who is currently a judge on America's X Factor, claims Telemundo bosses are trying to renege on a deal for her to appear on the second season of another competition show, La Voz Kids.
The Mexican star filed her lawsuit on Monday (13Jan14) in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The paperwork reads: "Telemundo apparently changed its mind after making a deal when presented with the opportunity to hire a far less expensive talent to replace Paulina."
Rubio was a judge on the first season of La Voz Kids, which aired last year (13), and had verbally agreed to return to the show in 2014.
Her lawyer Joe Carlone claims Telemundo used scheduling concerns as a "pretext" for getting out of their contract with his client and a compensation figure of over $1.3 million (Gbp8,125) was agreed upon in an email early last month (Dec13), according to The Hollywood Reporter. Negotiations broke down just before Christmas (13) and Telemundo bosses have since denied there was any binding agreement.
Rubio is demanding upwards of $1 million (Gbp625,000) for breach of contract.
