Spanish tenor Placido Domingo is set to take centre stage in a revival of Woody Allen's Puccini production Gianni Schicchi to celebrate the Los Angeles Opera's 30th anniversary this autumn (15).

The Annie Hall filmmaker will return to direct the show on the opening night of the venue's 2015-16 season on 12 September (15), seven years after the project's premiere.

Domingo, who serves as the general director of the Los Angeles Opera, will be well prepared for the role - the 74 year old is also performing in another production of Gianni Schicchi at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Spain from 30 June (15).
