A representative for Andre 3000 has played down reports suggesting the rapper is preparing to release his first solo album in 13 years in early 2014, insisting the star has yet to confirm anything.
The Outkast member has unveiled little new material since the hip-hop duo's Idlewild project in 2006, and he has only recorded a handful of guest appearances in the last seven years, including tracks by Beyonce, Drake, Lil Wayne and Frank Ocean.
However, he allegedly let slip plans to make a chart comeback during a chat with Bet network boss Stephen Hill backstage at Lil Wayne and T.I.'s America's Most Wanted Music Festival stop in Washington, D.C. on Friday (02Aug13).
Tweeting about the conversation he had with Andre 3000, Hill wrote, "Me: hey what's up? You got the movie coming, right? Andre 3000: yeah... and I got a solo album coming top of the year. Me:*droptofloor*".
However, Andre 3000's publicist has urged fans not to get too excited about the album news - because details about the project are still to be determined.
His spokesperson tells Billboard.com, "Regarding reports of a specific plan to release an album in early 2014, there is no official confirmation on that report."
Andre 3000's debut solo disc was released as one half of Outkast's 2001 double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which also featured a whole set of songs recorded separately by his bandmate Big Boi.
The rapper has been spending the past few months in Dublin, Ireland filming an upcoming Jimi Hendrix biopic, All Is By My Side, which is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada in September (13).
