Pulp hit Common People has been named the U.K.'s most popular Britpop anthem in a new poll.

The 1995 release beat Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve to take the top spot in a survey of more than 30,000 BBC Radio 6 Music listeners to mark the 20th anniversary of the pop/rock genre's emergence.

Oasis scored a double mention with Don't Look Back in Anger and Wonderwall placing in third and fourth place, respectively, while former chart rivals Blur ranked fifth with Parklife.

Tracks by Suede, The Bluetones and Ash also feature in the top 10.
