Quentin Tarantino Withdraws Leaked Script Action

Director Quentin Tarantino has withdrawn his legal battle against bosses at Gawker Media just a week after amending his original lawsuit.

The Pulp Fiction filmmaker has been in an ongoing battle with editors at Gawker.com since January (14), after the site published a report about how a script for his new Western, The Hateful Eight, had been leaked.

Editors shared links to other websites where the script had already been uploaded and Tarantino accused them of crossing the "journalistic line". He sued for actual and statutory damages, as well as at least $1 million (£625,000) in compensation.

Last month (Apr14), a judge ruled in favour of the website bosses' request for a dismissal, insisting there was no solid evidence to move forward with the case. However, Tarantino was allowed to amend the suit and refile, which he did last week (ends04May13).

He lodged a 15-page complaint with a claim of copyright infringement (Direct and Contributory) and was still looking for $1 million (£625,000) in compensation, but he has now asked a judge to withdraw the action.

The motion is without prejudice, meaning Tarantino is able to refile in the future.
