British rapper Dappy has been granted unconditional bail after his sentencing for an assault charge was adjourned on Monday (06Oct14).

The former N-Dubz star, real name Costadinos Contostavlos, denied attacking Devonn Reid at the Evissa nightclub in Reading, England a year ago (Oct13), but he was found guilty of assault by beating at Reading Magistrates' Court last month (Sep14).

He was due to learn his fate on Monday, but Reading Magistrates' Court District Judge Davinder Lachhar decided to defer the case to the nearby Guildford Crown Court for sentencing as officials there had previously given Dappy a six-month suspended jail term for affray and assault related to an incident at a Guildford petrol station in 2012.

He was still serving the suspended sentence at the time of the Reading attack.

A judge at Guildford Crown Court will now decide whether to activate the jail sentence after his latest assault conviction, which marked his third in two years following another club clash earlier this year (14). He was found guilty of slapping a fellow party-goer and fined $1,280 (£800).
