Rita Ora is designing for Adidas.

The 'I Will Never Let You Down' singer has scored a long-term creative collaboration with the sportswear brand and will be launching five different capsule collections of sneakers, clothing and accessories over a three month period, starting on August 21.

She enthused to WWD: ''I grew up working at a sneaker store when I was 16 and am a huge sneakerhead. It's so cool that I'm able to do this with a brand that I sold when I was younger.''

The news comes within months of signing on Pharrell Williams and Mary Katrantzou for design partnerships.

Rita, who is a big fan of the sports luxe trend, explained how she was first approached by the company at New York Fashion Week last autumn and spent weeks researching their past designs so she was fully equipped for the job.

The 23-year-old star said: ''I studied all of their shoes and their archives from the past 50 years. Before I started, I wanted to meet the team that was going to do it with me. So I did a performance at their Christmas party and met everyone.

''I was there for four hours going through a mood board, seeing what they have, what they don't have and bouncing back and forth with ideas. From there on, literally we'd meet every two weeks for a five-hour meeting.''

Rita's Black line will hit stores on August 21, followed by her Pastel range and Colourblock Packs collections on September 4, and finally her Roses and Spray creations on November 1.

Josefine Aberg, design director of Adidas Originals, commented: ''Rita is, first of all, an amazing person and colourful and outgoing. She has a great way of mixing fashion and streetwear and has a big love for the brand, and it was obvious that we needed to work with her.''

The British singer has made a name for herself as a fashion muse in recent months and already has deals with DKNY and Madonna's line Material Girl.

She also recently created a capsule collection for cosmetics brand Rimmel and teased a new campaign with Cavalli.
