Robert De Niro has joined the cast of 'Idol's Eye' starring Robert Pattinson.

The double Oscar-winner will star alongside the 'Twilight Saga' actor in the heist action-thriller which is set to start production in Chicago and Toronto in October this year, reports Deadline.

The picture will be directed by Olivier Assayas and produced and developed by Charles Gillibert, although plot details are yet to be released.

Benaroya Pictures will finance and produce the film with International Film Trust, which was co-founded by Benaroya, handling foreign sales of the movie.

It won't be the first time French-born Assayas has directed a former 'Twilight star'.

His drama 'Clouds Of Sils Maria' premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last week, starring Pattinson's ex-girlfriend and former co-star Kristen Stewart, along with Juliette Binoche and Chloe Moretz.

Pattinson's 'Queen of the Deserts' was also shown at the annual festival in France, in which he stars as a British army Colonel T.E Lawrence with Nicole Kidman and James Franco.

Meanwhile, De Niro, 70 - who won the Best Actor Academy Awards for his performances in 'Raging Bull' (1981) and 'The Godfather: Part II' (1975) - recently released crime-thriller 'The Bag Man' 2014 with 'High Fidelity' star John Cusack.
