Robin Thicke has doubled up at the top of the U.S. charts after debuting his new album at number one on the Billboard 200.

Blurred Lines is the singer's first number one in a career that has spanned a decade, and it follows the success of the title track, which has spent the past eight weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 singles countdown.

The hit song will start a ninth week at number one on Thursday (08Aug13) when the latest singles chart is officially released.

Blurred Lines, the album, rockets to the top of the Billboard 200 chart with 177,000 first-week sales, 60,000 copies more than Five Finger Death Punch's The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell: Volume 1, which debuts at two.

Jay Z's Magna Carta... Holy Grail slips a spot to three, while rapper Tech N9ne's Something Else and The Backstreet Boys' In a World Like This enter the chart at numbers four and five, respectively.

Last week's number one, Selena Gomez's Stars Dance, drops to eight on the new countdown.
