British rocker Roger Daltrey unveiled plans to expand his cancer charity worldwide when he was honoured for his philanthropy at a music industry awards ceremony on Thursday (24Apr14).

The Who star was feted for his work with his Teenage Cancer Trust charity as he picked up the Outstanding Contribution to Charity accolade at the Music Week Awards in London.

The prize was presented by British rocker Paul Weller and dedications were given by Sir Paul MCCartney, British singer Ed Sheeran and Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant, who all praised Daltrey's work helping youngsters with cancer.

The singer is patron of the U.K. trust and the driving force behind its fundraising concerts, and while thanking his fellow musicians for helping his charity, he also revealed plans to take it global.

He said, "I didn't do this, I just got the idea. The music business, the comedy industry, you're the ones that have made it happen. Keep it going, we do great work. We lead the world in music, and now we lead the world in the way teenagers are treated with cancer. We're pushing it out in America, Australia, New Zealand, Germany... Everywhere. Onward we go. Thank you."

Daltrey launched the initiative in the U.S. in 2011.
