Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood is to perform a tribute to legendary bluesman Jimmy Reed.

The rocker's side project, The Ronnie Wood Band, has been announced as the closing act of BluesFest, which will take place at London's Royal Albert Hall between Tuesday October 29 and Friday November 1.

Ronnie - who plays guitar and sings in the band - will be performing a selection of his favorite Reed songs and he is honored to have been asked to perform as the late musician has been such a huge influence on his career and the music of The Stones.

Ronnie - who has been touring with The Rolling Stones this year to mark their 50th anniversary celebrations - said: ''Jimmy Reed was one of the premier influences on The Rolling Stones and all the bands that love American Blues from that era until the present day. It is my honor to have the opportunity to celebrate his life and legacy with this tribute.''

Other acts performing on the same day as The Ronnie Wood band include Van Morrison and Mick Hucknall's All Star Tribute To Bobby Bland, Huey Morgan and The New Yorkers and Cerys Matthews.

Other highlights across the week include sets by Robert Plant, Van Morrison, Bobby Womack, Chris Rea and Grammy Award-winning soul diva Natalie Cole.

The Royal Albert Hall will also be opening its incredible vault of memorabilia showcasing rock and roll artifacts from Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, BB King, Muddy Waters and many other revered artists.

Tickets for BluesFest will be on sale from this Friday August 30 at Livenation.co.uk.
