Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is desperate to meet Rihanna.

The model-turned-actress is longing to be best friends with the Bajan pop star, and was left devastated when she missed out on the chance of meeting her idol backstage after watching her concert in Los Angeles earlier this year.

During an interview on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, she told DJ Nick Grimshaw: ''If I met Rihanna I would be [star struck]. I recently went to see her perform in LA and I went backstage and everyone was standing back there having a drink with her team, they said, 'She's gonna come now, she's gonna come out any minute now' ''

Rosie waited backstage for three hours in hope of meeting the 'Pour It Up' singer, but her nerves got the better of her and she left before meeting Rihanna.

She added: ''I was standing there going, 'Oh my god, I'm gonna meet Rihanna. I'm gonna meet Rihanna!' And I stood there and 20 minutes went by and the more time went by the more nervous I got. Then after about three hours of waiting I was like, I've had enough!''

The 26-year-old supermodel says the incident has made her even more anxious to meet with Rihanna but hopes one day they will become pals.

She laughed: ''I'm really nervous to meet her now, I'm gonna get star-struck and say something I'll regret or ... leave with her ... She's so cool. I've been campaigning [to be her friend] for a long time.''
