Russell Brand - Russell Brand wore Hugo Boss before Nazi jibe

Russell Brand wore a Hugo Boss jacket to an Oscars party six months before he mocked the company for its association with the Nazis.

The outspoken comedian made the jibe at the GQ Men of the Year Awards on Tuesday (03.09.13) but, despite criticising the event's sponsors for designing uniforms for several of Adolf Hitler's Nazi organisations such as the Sturmabteilung (SA) and the Schutzstaffel (SS), it has been revealed he wore one of their jackets to a star-studded bash held to celebrate the Academy Awards.

A Hugo Boss spokesman told The Sun newspaper: ''We can confirm Russell wore a Hugo suit jacket to the Grey Goose Pre-Oscar Party in February.''

Russell, 38, was at the GQ Men of the Year Awards to collect the prize for Oracle of the Year, and during his acceptance speech he made his jibes against late German designer Hugo Boss - who joined Hitler's National Socialist Party in 1931.

Russell said: ''If any of you know a little bit about history and fashion, you'll know Hugo Boss made the uniforms for the Nazis. But they did look f***ng fantastic, lets face it, while they were killing people on the basis of their religion and sexuality.''

Hugo Boss formally apologised in 2011 for their mistreatment of 140 Polish and 40 French workers during World War II.

Founder Hugo supplied uniforms to the SS, SA, the Hitler Youth, National Socialist Motor Corps and other party organisations.

'Despicable Me 2' Russell star also took aim at burger chain McDonalds' mascot Ronald McDonald, comparing the clown to Adolf Hitler hours after he was kicked out of the awards ceremony.

He said: ''In those days, it was clear what evil was. Aargh, evil is Adolf Hitler. Now evil comes dressed in the white of Ronald McDonald. Now evil is hidden in the Apple logo. Now evil is indecipherable in derivative bundles and in dispossessed millions.''
