Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges hosted a special screening of their new film on Sunday (14Jul13) for the first responders of the Boston Marathon bombings.
The actors star in supernatural police thriller R.I.P.D., and they came together in the Massachusetts capital to screen the film for the local police and firefighters who worked during the atrocity in April (13).
Officers who work on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Mit) campus were also invited to the special screening as one of the site's policemen, Sean Collier, was gunned down during a confrontation with the bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Reynolds and Bridges mingled with their guests and posed for photos with several of the first responders.
Boston Police Superintendent-in-Chief Daniel Linskey tells the Boston Globe the event was "a chance to relax, especially after everything everyone's been through in the past few months".
Three people were killed and hundreds injured when the Tsarnaev brothers allegedly planted two pressure cooker bombs near the finish line of the annual race.
Tamerlan was killed in a police shoot-out in the days after the bombing, while his 19-year-old sibling Dzhokhar was later captured. He pleaded not guilty to a number of charges during an arraignment hearing in a Boston federal court last week (10Jul13).
