Ryan Reynolds finds getting a good night's sleep ''borderline pornographic'' after becoming a father for the first time.

The 38-year-old actor and his wife Blake Lively welcomed a baby daughter into the world last month and while he is enjoying being a dad, the Hollywood hunk gets very excited when he can sleep for more than seven hours at a time.

He told USA Today: ''I don't sleep very much. It's great. It's wonderful. But my brain is elsewhere.

''It's still so new that it's hard to conceive being away for more than seven hours at a time.

''I had to go to Sundance this last week. I was more excited to get a good night's sleep. It was borderline pornographic for me.''

The couple were reported to have named their little one Violet but Ryan has confirmed that is not the case, but opted against revealing their daughter's moniker.

He added: ''No that's not the name. I don't want to get into that but I don't know where that came from.''

While he doesn't get much of his 40 winks anymore, the 'Green Lantern' star admitted that when he does wake up in middle of the night to tend to his and 27-year-old Blake's baby he is always in a ''good mood''

He told Extra: ''It is challenging. You are operating on a week's worth of sleep amortised over six months. You don't get a lot of sleep.

''It's weird to wake up in the middle of the night 45 times and always be in a good mood, in place of that. I'm not used to that, so that's fun.''
