Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has confirmed the script for 'Salt 2' is ready. The 2010 action thriller starred Angelina Jolie and grossed nearly $300 million worldwide.
The script for 'Salt 2' has been completed.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has confirmed he has read the screenplay for the proposed follow-up to 2010's smash hit action thriller 'Salt' starring Angelina Jolie, and he believes it's ''exciting'' and ''daring''.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the European premiere of 'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' in London's Leicester Square on Monday (20.01.14), he said: ''I just read the 'Salt 2' script last week and we'll be going into the studio soon, hopefully. One of the mysteries of our business is what gets made, why it gets made, and when it gets made. It's an exciting script and has a very daring idea.''
The producer - who is also behind the 'Transformers' and 'RED' franchises - was coy, however, when asked whether the proposed sequel would make Jolie the highest paid actress in Hollywood, as has been rumoured.
He said: ''Isn't she already the highest paid actress? I don't think that's why she does it. She loves her job. She's a great director, too.''
'Salt' was both a critical and box office success upon its release in 2010, grossing nearly $300 million worldwide.
The film - which was directed by Phillip Noyce - co-starred Liev Schreiber and current Oscar contender Chiwetel Ejiofor.
