Sam Smith has found a boyfriend.

The 'Stay With Me' hitmaker previously revealed he had never had a partner, but has now found a lover, Jonathan, after the hunk appeared as an extra in his music video.

Speaking of his new beau, he said: ''It's very early days. I'm talking very, very, very early days.

''But he's really sweet. I met him on the video for 'Like I Can', he was one of 20 extras.''

After claiming they had only recently got together, the 22-year-old elaborated on the their status by saying their relationship is in such an early stage they haven't even talked about whether they are actually a couple.

He explained: ''It's a surreal thing to be talking about because I haven't even confirmed with him that we're officially seeing each other.''

The six-time Grammy Award nominee wrote about unrequited love on his debut album 'In the Lonely Hour' - which was released earlier this year - and confessed he is now working on the follow-up which he has already titled.

He said: ''I've already come up with the title, the concept, the artwork, everything.

''I'm already recording really rough demos on the road.''

The 'Money on my Mind' singer is also eyeing up a collaboration with 'Thinking Out Loud' singer Ed Sheeran, who he recently struck up a friendship with as they bonded over their success as male solo artists.

He told The Sun newspaper: ''He's one person, when we're talking about celebrities in the industry, who I'd actually count as a friend. Him and Jessie Ware.

''Ed's an amazing man. He helps me and gives me advice. I would love to work with him.''
