Veteran rocker 'Southside' Johnny Lyon has developed the perfect touring strategy - he has an entire band of substitute musicians ready to step in if any of his group falls ill.

The Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes frontman has been on the road regularly since finding fame in the mid-1970s and he has a foolproof way to avoid cancelling shows.

He tells Uncut magazine, "You have to be flexible. So everyone in this band has a sub. If one guy can't make it, he's got another guy, and he's taught them at least 20 or 25 of our songs. So if a job comes up, I know I can call people."
