Bono - Spider-spider Man Musical Performer Sues Producers Over Injuries
Dancer Daniel Curry's leg got stuck in a trap door after a lift malfunctioned as the set was moved during the second act at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre and he is now suing 8 Legged Productions over the horror.
As part of the case, Curry made an emergency application in Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday (16Sep13) to stop special effects bosses from changing the mechanical device while the lawsuit is ongoing.
Curry writes in papers which he filed to the court, "The lift is meant to lift me and another cast member to the stage by a computer program without any manoeuvring on my part... As a result of the lift, I sustained fractured legs, (a) fractured foot and have underwent surgeries and amputations."
The dancer insists the company that is responsible for special effects equipment should hand over evidence related to the incident so that his experts can examine the issue.
However, bosses at 8 Legged Productions state its equipment was not responsible for the accident.
A spokesperson for the company tells the New York Post, "The producers have done an extensive internal investigation, and are confident that the production and its equipment were in no way responsible for the unfortunate incident."
