Jackass star Steve-O has thanked authorities for threatening him with prosecution over his SeaWorld sign prank, insisting a court case will shine the spotlight on the issues facing the controversial tourist attraction.

California Highway Patrol (Chp) officials have recommended the San Diego County district attorney's office charge Steve-O with vandalism and trespassing for climbing onto a freeway hoarding and defacing a sign to read 'SeaWorld Sucks'.

However, the Tv star hopes the authorities do pursue a case against him because he is convinced a high-profile court hearing will be the best way to highlight animal rights issues which have plagued SeaWorld.

Steve-O tells Tmz.com, "I'd like to thank the Chp for breathing new life into this story. Bring on the publicity because SeaWorld sucks."

The incident occurred in May (14) on a road close to SeaWorld San Diego and the star shared footage of the stunt on YouTube.com last month (Aug14).
