Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is moving towards releasing his long-awaited solo album because he doesn't want to waste his work with Johnny Depp.

The singer has recorded a number of solo songs over the last few years, notably releasing a track called (It) Feels So Good in 2011 and enjoying writing sessions with keen musician Depp, but his work has never resulted in the production of a full solo album.

Tyler has now revealed he is determined to finish the record and release it next year (14), telling Billboard.com, "I'm just doing a solo record 'cause I think it's f**king kinky to go write a song with Johnny Depp. I think it's f**king ridiculous to go write a bunch of songs I started five years ago and never finished. It feeds my passion. I like travelling all over the place and writing songs and seeing what we catch. It's kind of like driftnetting for songs."

However, Tyler insists his solo plans will not get in the way of his work with Aerosmith, adding, "No, the band's not breaking up. Me doing a solo record doesn't mean the band isn't working on a record."
