Julia Roberts is a ''strict'' mother.

The 46-year-old actress has three children, twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, nine, and son Henry, six, with husband DANNY MODER, and although she is happy to indulge her kids occasionally, she admits she usually sets firm boundaries as she wants the trio to have the same ''principles'' that she and her spouse were raised with.

Speaking in the latest UK issue of OK! magazine, she said: ''I'm pretty strict. I was raised in a pretty strict way and we want to instil the same principles and values that my husband and I were raised with.

''But now and again it's great to say, 'Let's do this outrageous thing - let's have an ice cream on a Wednesday!' But you can only have that moment if you have good boundaries around the rest of it.''

The 'August: Osage County' actress is grateful that her family life hasn't been affected by her fame so far, but thinks it will have a bigger impact on her children as they get older.

She said: ''[Fame] hasn't really entered into their lives yet. They're little kids and I'm just their mom.

''I'm sure there will be things to cope with later in life but, so far, we're rock steady with mom, dad and home life.''
